Congratulations Sir John Buchanan!

The 2012 Lifetime Contribution to Finance and Business Award has been presented to Sir John Buchanan ahead of the CFO Summit in March.

Sir John was recently knighted by the Queen and had an extremely successful 33-year career with BP.

Although based in Britain, he has always retained close ties with New Zealand as a trustee of the British branch of the earthquake fundraising appeal for Christchurch, and serving the UK Friends of both the University of Auckland and Auckland Grammar School.

Category definition and qualification

The Lifetime Contribution to Finance & Business Award is given to a high profile business person (including, but not necessarily a current or former CFO) from a public or private company whose contribution has significantly and uniquely impacted the greater New Zealand or global business community in a financial sense over the course of his or her career. He or she may live in New Zealand or abroad, but must be a New Zealand citizen.
